My Week 3rd November - 9th November 2013

Hi Beauts.

It would seem my weekly 'day in the life' type posts are becoming a regular occurrence on the old blog. I have to admit, I do enjoy writing them. I like how I'll always have something to look back on, kind of like an online diary....only without the massive secrets :P Anywhoo, here's what I've been up to this past week:

Sunday 3rd November

Time for another first for me (if you read last weeks post you'll know I carved a pumpkin for the first time!) There was a fireworks display down on South Shields seafront so we decided to pop down. Again, I'm 27 and I'd never been to a fireworks display........This was amazing!

Monday 4th November

Nothing overly exciting happened on Monday. Mother dear met me after work and we popped out for a coffee and a teeny bit Christmas shopping. Also, winter officially started for me, hello cold!!!! Brrrr

Tuesday 5th November

You may begin to see a little pattern here, I met one of my friends after work for a Starbucks Christmas coffee and a catch up. I think I may have a coffee addiction..... I didn't do anything for bonfire night as I 'celebrated' it at the weekend.

Wednesday 6th November

Time to take the Guinea Boys to get their nails clipped after work. I hate taking them, I know it doesn't hurt but I'm like an overbearing over protective mother. Then it was home to catch up with blogging and to start the major sort out that I'd been planning all week.

Friday 8th November

Friday was a pain in the bee-hind kinda day. My phone hasn't been charging at all with my charger so I've even having to use my USB lead and charge it via my laptop.....NOT GOOD! I went ino phones 4 U and they basically said they couldn't do anything about it. I have insurance and it's under guarantee soooo how/what/why? Pfffft thanks for nothing! My mood lifted when I met my cousin for coffee and they were buy one get one free ;)

Saturday 9th November

I had to call into town on Saturday for a present for mam and my sister, so obviously I had to buy myself a thing or two.... AND I may have had a Christmas coffee too.....I think I have a slight caffeine addiction!

What have y'all been up? Also do any of you have the Samsung Galaxy S 3 and have trouble with it charging? It's driving me insane!

My winter essentials

Hi Beauts.

As the winter months are well and truly upon us I've noticed myself reaching for hand cream for my dry hands, Chapstick for my pout and strepsils for my throat more and more. Because I carry such a huge bag around with me, things tend to get lost.
So along with my make up bag, I decided to make a little 'winter essentials' bag so that I know where everything is and I don't have to spend until next winter hunting down my Chapstick.

Here the items in question:

* Strepsils - The worst thing, in my opinion, about having a cold is getting a sore throat. These are a definite essential for moi

* Carmex - This is in my bag no matter what the weather. It heals cracked and dry lips in no time

* Virasorb - Let's face it, ain't no body looks cute with a cold sore

* Cherry Chapstick - I've only had this a few days and I've used up quite a bit. I have this as well as my Carmex in case I fancy something different on my pout (this tastes better)

* Tissues - A funny nose is never a good look

* Ibuprofen - I always get a head ache when I get a cold

* Hand cream - I ALWAYS have dry hands so hand cream is a must for me

And that's pretty much it. I usually have a packet of Halls or Lockets in there too, just as extra back up to fight the dreaded cold.

Do you have a little winter essentials kit? What's in yours?

Saturday is for shopping.....

Hi Beauts.

It's been so long since I've gone out and bought a few make up bits, I have bought the odd thing here and there but never bought enough to make a haul post. I made sure that wasn't the case yesterday :P

I headed into town to pick up some slippers for mam and part of my sisters Christmas present, and obviously I had to have a spy in Boots and Superdrug!

Here's what I bought

From Superdrug

* MUA Matte lipstick in 'Wild Berry' £1.00 I've been hunting this down since the day it was released and only just managed to get it!

* Bourjois color edition 24H in '04 Kaki' £6.99
* Maybelline color tattoo in '70 Metallic pomegranate' £4.99
* SEVENTEEN Miracle matte concealer crayon in 'Fair' £4.49 (my free item)

Revlon lash potion review

Hi Beauts.

Does anyone else hate throwing away mascara? I do. Even when it's time to chuck it I just don't want to part with it. But I also enjoy buying new mascara, slight contradiction there Stacey! Anywhoo, one mascara that I couldn't wait to try was the Revlon lash potion.

 If I'm honest it was the packaging that sucked me in, I'm like a magpie with pretty things. I hadn't read or watched any reviews but I knew that I had to have it. So I got me some whilst in NYC.

Whenever I buy a new mascara I very rarely like it straight away because 9 times out of 10 it's too wet, so I leave it for a week or so to dry slightly. However this one wasn't like that at all. On first application I knew I'd found a mascara that I'd mourn even more than the others when I'd  finished it. The actual product wasn't too wet or dry it was just in between - perfect consistency.

The wand is a pretty standard wand unlike all of the fancy ones that are hitting the shelves promising to work wonders with your lashes. And on that note, this does work wonders.

Even with just one coat my lashes looked so long, full and separated which I loved. After two coats they looked even better!

 This definitely gives volume, length and separation which so many mascaras claim to do but don't. There's only one thing I'm not overly keen on and that's removal. It is a BIATCH to take off. I mean it's good that it's so stubborn because nobody wants a streaky face right? But nobody wants to have to scrub at their eyeballs to remove it either. However even though it's tough to remove, I can totally overlook that little problem because it's such an amazing product, and defintly one I'll be buying time and time again!

This retails for £9.99 in Boots and Superdrug.

Have you tried this yet? What are your thoughts?

NYX blush in Pinched

Hi Beauts.

There are so many brands talked about on YouTube that us UK beauty fiends can't get our mitts on. One brand being NYX. However they created a UK website and......started selling their products in some Next stores. How exciting?!
 I'm not really a fan of buying online as I like to have a good old swatch of things, so as soon as I found out Next stocked NYX (woah mouthful) I knew I had to go have a spy.

One thing that was top of my wishlist was a blush. Everyone loves them so I knew that would be the first thing I bought (I already own a round lipstick and 2 mega shine glosses) I picked out 'Pinched' to try out first, you can never go wrong with a pink. And a pink it is.

 This shade is a bright neutral toned pink with a hint of sparkle. However the sparkle doesn't transfer to the cheeks - no looking like a glitter fairy threw up on your face (nice visual for you) I absolutely love this shade, it's the perfect pink in my opinion and it would definitely suit everyone

 I now see why there is so much hype surrounding these blushes. They are unbelievably pigmented, I literally placed my brush on top and had enough product to apply! They're easily blended too so if you are a bit heavy handed or apply too much, fear not! The majority of blushes I use last all day on my cheeks and this was no exception. The pigmentation didn't fade at all and I had quite a few complements about my 'rosy cheeks' I've read a few reviews of this shade and people seem to compare it to Nars Orgasm blush. However I don't have it to do a comparison but if you do, let me know your thoughts. I was a big fan of NYX before, but I'm an even bigger fan now!

What are your favourite products? I really want to try the butter glosses SO bad!!!

I thought I'd share with you said wishlist, if you've tried any of the products please let me know your thoughts:

* Nars blush in Crazed

* Nars blush in Sin
* Nars highlighter in Albatross
* MAC lipstick in Rebel
* MAC lipstick in up the amp
* MAC Paint pot in Soft Ocre
* MAC 224 Brush

* Stila smudge pot in Kitten
* Benefit box blush in Dallas
* Benefit box blush in Sugarbomb
