Models Own: Pukka Purple

Hi Beauts.

As far as nail polish goes, I don't think I need another bottle for well, forever to be honest. However I always seem to manage to pick up the odd shade every now and then when I'm shopping.
One that I've had my eye on since, I want to say last summer? Is Models Own Pukka Purple which is part of their fluorescent line.

Purple is my favourite colour and this one in particular looked so pretty sat there on the shelf that I could resist no longer.
I want to say the shade is a royal purple? It's not light and bright and it's not too dark, it's kind of a medium purple and it's a beaut. I have other models own nail polishes but the ones I have are glittery so I wasn't too sure how opaque this one would be.

Well let me tell you, very! I applied one coat and I would have been ready to rock, however I'm a bit of a weirdo and always apply 2 coats whether I need to or not. It's such a smooth and easy polish to apply, the pigmentation is intense and it seemes to dry pretty quick too. I've never been one for wearing a base and top coat (naughty naughty) and usually find that my polish chips within 2 days. However, this little bottle of heaven lasted 5 days before chipping at all...without a base and top coat! How amazing is that?
I've looked up swatches of the other shades in this collection and definitely think more may be making their way into my basket. I'm so impressed with this, if you don't already have it I urge to to pick one up!!

What shades do you have in your collection? Any others I need?

Marks and Spencer nail polish review

Hi beauts.

After hunting down every brand I could that doesn't test on animals, I discovered that M&S are a brand that are cruelty free. I already have a lipstick from their 'Limited' range so decided to try out their nail polish too, the two shades I picked up are Lilac GD and Aubergine.

Let's talk product first. For £3.50 You get 8 ml of polish which I think is pretty good, nobody gets through a big bottle before it gets old do they? They're the same consistency as any other polish I've used, and the application was smooth and quick. The great thing about these is how fast they dry, literally within 40 seconds! With Lilac GD I did notice that I needed to apply 3 coats, where as with Aubergine I only needed 2, I'm not sure if this is the case with all of the lighter shades in the range.
Now for staying power, the big test. I applied the colour on a Monday evening and by.....it showed signs of wear and chipping.

I picked these two shades because purple is one of my favourite colours, and I think that Lilac GD is a very unique colour. It's a lilac and gold monochrome shade with tiny specks of gold glitter, the glitter isn't chunky but it is a bit of a pain to remove. The aubergine shade is exactly that, a deep reddy purple that is great for these winter months.

All in all I'm pretty impressed with these nail polishes so far, and can't wait to try more shades.

Have you tried anything from the M&S make up line?

Sinful colors

Hi Beauts.

I'm Stacey, and I'm a bit of a nail polish addict. I seriously think I own way too many nail polishes if I'm honest but I just can't seem to stop buying them! Does anyone else have this problem too?
The fact that I've discovered a new brand doesn't help either, welcome to my life Sinful colors. I stumbled across this brand whilst in Boots a couple of months ago and I've now decided that I need each and every shade. I'm even juggling with the idea of binning the majority of my collection and starting again with Sinful Colors!

Let's start with the colour selection shall we? There are currently 70 shades in the collection if I'm not mistaken, how's that for choice?! How about finishes? They have Matte, glitter, pearl, shimmer and cream. Not many brands have more than one or two finishes so I think it's great to find a highstreet brand that stocks a variety.

I found the application to be smooth and the lighter shade wasn't streaky at all (unlike lighter shades from other brands) I only needed two coats and I was good to go. The best thing about these polishes, other than the fact they're £1.99each, is their staying power. I'm so forgetful/lazy when it comes to painting my nails and I never apply a base or topcoat. I figured I'd get maybe a day or two's wear out of these nail polishes without a base and topcoat but I was so very wrong. These polishes lasted 5 days before any chips started to appear! How's that for long wearing?!

This brand has fast become my favourite, and I shall definitely be purchasing so many more shades. But for now, here's the ones that I currently own:

The Lowdown

Price - £1.99
Product - 15ml
Shades - 70
Available from - Boots
Smooth application
Only two coats needed
Top coat not necessary
Lasts at least 5 days before chipping

Have you tried this brand yet? What's your favourite shade?

Please don't forget to check out my second blog :)
