L.A Colors eyeshadow review

Hi Beauts.

A few weeks ago I picked up two eyeshadows from the brand L.A Colors which I've been using pretty much every day since I got them, and I think they're too good not to share.

The two shades I bought are 'Bare' which is a matte cream and 'Bare Mauve' which is nothing like a mauve. It's a medium warm toned matte brown, and I use it almost every day as a transition shade.

Both shades are extremely pigmented, which I find very rare when it comes to matte eyeshadows from the highstreet/drugstore. 

I love how they apply and blend to. They're so soft and buttery to apply to the lid, and blend out so easily! I do sometimes find that if I pack too much of 'Bare' onto a brush, it can be a little powdery, however I mostly use it as a highlight so never need a lot anyway.

As I mentioned, I use 'Bare Mauve' as a transition shade, and there have been days when I haven't wanted too much going on with my eyes so I use 'Bare' all over and 'Bare Mauve' in the crease.

Although the packaging does look a little cheap, I really like it. It's sturdy, each shade is printed on the back, and the whole front of the casing is clear so you can see the whole product and colour you're buying. These eyeshadows also come with a sponge applicator attached to the inside of the lid. I don't use sponge applicators, but I do think it's a great idea if you want to throw the pot in your make up bag and want to touch up throughout the day.

I picked mine up from Boyes for £1.00 each, but haven't spotted them anywhere else. Have you seen this brand anywhere?

Christmas Eve make up

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE!!

I have to, unfortunately, brave the mad shoppers today (I shall be home in time to watch The Grinch though!) to stock up on stuff for the little fluff balls. So I thought I'd do a quick post of my eye make up because it's a little bit Christmassy :) Enjoy

Here's what I used:

From the Naked Basics palette, I used Naked 2 and faint. From the Naked 2 I used Foxy and Half Baked

What I did:

* I took Naked 2 onto a blending brush and applied this through my crease as a transition shade

* Next up on a flat shader brush, I packed on Half Baked all over the lower part of my lid

* To deepen the look, I applied Faint into my outer V with a pencil brush, then blended out with a fluffy brush

* Last but not least, I used Foxy as a brow bone highlight

Maybelline color tattoo in 'Barely There'

A while back Maybelline brought out Color tattoo's in a variety of shades and I had to, of course, jump on the band wagon. I picked up 'On and on bronze' and absolutely fell in love with the shade. 

I still reach for it now, quite frequently as it's such an easy product to use.

If you aren't familiar with color tattoo's, they are a cream like product that can be used alone or as a base for eyeshadows and best of all they last all day with no creasing at all.

As with most make up items, the US get some pretty amazing products and/or shades before the UK so whilst in New York I spotted a neutral shade called 'Barely there' and had to buy it

One of my favourite products from MAC is their paint pot in 'Barestudy' and I thought that this may be a good dupe. There weren't any testers to see if it was of a similar shade, but I knew that if it wasn't I'd still get so much use out of it.

I no longer have my paint pot to do a side by side swatch but it looks very similar indeed, and I'm so happy that I bought it.

'Barely there' is a neutral toned champagne shade that will work well with all skin tones and types - my favourite kind of product as I'm cool toned. I've worn this a few times alone and it just adds a nice subtle shimmer to the eyes, and when wearing it as a base under eyeshadow it makes the eyeshadow pop, last longer and stops any creasing.

I've even just applied a small amount to the inner corner of my eyes and it definitely helps with that wide awake look. The great thing about shades like this one, is that it can be worn under any colour eyeshadow from neutrals to brights, mattes to shimmers. 

I'm hoping that this makes it to the UK shelves (if it hasn't already) as I'll definitely be buying a back up!
